The Energy Margin Intelligence Index 2026, Belgium

Belgian energy retailers are confident in their margin. Some 98 per cent say they connect operational data to financial outcomes effectively, and 94 per cent trust their margin reporting. Yet only 27 per cent can consistently reconcile sales to margin with high accuracy, the lowest of the six European markets surveyed. Drawing on a Censuswide survey of 100 Belgian energy retail leaders, this report explores the Precision Deficit: how distributed margin ownership, stretched expertise and legacy systems make an exact view of margin hard to establish, and where retailers can build on strengths they already have.
