Meeting the energy giant: who is ENGIE UK
ENGIE is a global energy player with UK investments in renewable energy and storage, whilst supplying gas and electric energy to organisations of all sizes. ENGIE Group’s 1,668 employees in the UK are actively engaged in the transition to net zero carbon, underpinned by its role as a champion of zero carbon energies.
The challenge of manual pricing
The pricing system at ENGIE UK relied heavily on spreadsheets, with results manually loaded into its CRM system. The customer wanted to adapt more quickly to market fluctuations, resulting in significant efficiency gains and a competitive edge in the market. Gorilla was tasked with delivering a reliable, high-performance pricing solution, working alongside the System Integration (SI) partner, ensuring seamless implementation and integration with ENGIE’s existing infrastructure.
The need for speed and scalability
Gorilla needed to improve the end-to-end pricebook process, which was long, cumbersome, and spreadsheet-driven—leading to high risk of errors and delays. With calculations peaking during key planning months (April and October), there were concerns about scalability. Additionally, ENGIE needed assurance that the system could manage future data increases, especially with the upcoming MHHS (Market Half-Hourly Settlement) initiative as the level of data they receive in the new world exponentially increases.
Precision and performance unleashed
Gorilla transformed ENGIE’s pricing process by improving accuracy and enhancing responsiveness to market dynamics. Despite an increase in the volume and complexity of calculations, the system consistently processes them in under a minute, ensuring ENGIE can meet its growing data demands without sacrificing performance.
Hours saved, decisions accelerated
ENGIE UK has significantly sped up its pricing-to-sales process, completing pricing within hours rather than waiting until the next day. The consistency and speed of Gorilla’s system, even with an increased number of calculations, has impressed the team. Sub-1-minute processing times ensure real-time adjustments are possible. Pricing time was reduced from 2–3 days to a same-day turnaround, with cost curves uploaded at 11 AM and pricing sent to sales by 3 PM.
“Gorilla has drastically improved our turnaround time from start to finish. We reprice on a weekly basis and the pricing model runs effortlessly. Everything we had hoped for has been delivered. You promised, you delivered and we are really happy."
- Mary Eley, Senior Pricing Analyst, ENGIE UK
