E-World 2026: Another great year!

February 19, 2026

The energy industry recently descended upon Essen for E-world energy & water, and the atmosphere was nothing short of elektrisch. This year was one of the largest and busiest iterations of the event to date, reflecting a sector that is rapidly evolving to meet the demands of a volatile market. For the Gorilla team, it was a prime opportunity to connect with the retailers who are navigating these complexities every day. From the opening of the halls to the final sessions, our booth was a hub of activity as we discussed the future of energy margin intelligence with experts from across Germany, the broader European landscape, and even further afield.

A chilly challenge with a warm reward

Beyond the technical discussions and platform demonstrations, we wanted to bring a touch of fun to the exhibition floor. Our "below the iceberg" prize draw captured the imagination of many attendees, challenging them to guess the number of marshmallows hidden in a bottle. The prize was a trip to the stunning landscapes of Norway, a fitting reward for someone who can navigate the hidden depths.

We are thrilled to announce that Karin Wiesner of Energie & Management is the winner of this year's draw. In a display of impressive estimation skills, Karin guessed 2085 marshmallows, which was incredibly close to the actual count of 2082. We hope she enjoys her Norwegian adventure and thank everyone who participated in the contest.

The rise of Energy Margin Intelligence

While the marshmallows provided entertainment, the core of our conversations centered on the significant challenges facing energy retailers today. The industry is grappling with margin erosion, volatile commodity prices, and the urgent pressure to transition toward net-zero goals. It has only been a few months since we introduced "Energy Margin Intelligence" to the world, but we're already seeing incredible levels of excitement for the idea and what EMI platforms can bring.

Retailers are increasingly aware that legacy systems and siloed operations are preventing them from acting with the necessary speed and accuracy. Many of the leaders we spoke with expressed a need for unified platforms that can integrate pricing, forecasting, billing, and hedging into a single source of truth. They are looking for ways to move away from complex spreadsheets and outdated tools that slow down decision-making processes. The ability to transform market volatility into a competitive advantage is the primary goal for retailers.

Looking ahead

The enthusiasm we encountered regarding our platform’s capabilities was truly encouraging. Gorilla is designed to empower retailers to see, steer, protect, and grow their margins in real time. Whether it is reducing quote times from hours to minutes or enabling rapid reactions to market spikes, our focus remains on delivering tangible value to our partners.

As we return from Essen and begin follow-up conversations with the many Energieversorger we met, we are already preparing to reveal more of our platform's latest capabilities in the coming months. The road to a carbon-neutral energy future requires innovation and the ability to take control of margin leakage and ensure every deal is delivering value.

We want to thank the organizers of E-world for hosting such a productive event and all the visitors who took the time to speak with our team. The insights we gained will continue to fuel our mission to advance the industry. We already look forward to returning to E-world next year to share even more success stories and technological breakthroughs.

If you were unable to visit us in person or would like to dive deeper into how Gorilla can future-proof your retail operations, we invite you to take the next step in your  journey and see just why Energy Margin Intelligence is the concept on everyone's lips.
